2010 will be a year of change in the produce industry.  HR2749, The Food Safety Enhancement Act of 2009 has passed in the House of Representatives.  SB510, The Food Safety Modernization Act, is the Senate version of food safety.  It will be voted on and passed in 2010.  Following the passage of that in the Senate, the two bills will be combined via committee and a final Food Safety Bill will emerge, be voted on, passed, and signed by President Obama.  If it had not been for the Health Bill, the Food Safety Bill likely would already have been completed.  Within the passage of the final bill will be additional regulations to follow, requirements to be implemented and fees to be paid.  Whether it be monitoring your company’s current status with existing areas like the Reportable Food Registry or insuring that you are in compliance with new and upcoming requirements, FoodTRACE will monitor these areas for you.  We will not only assist you in updating you when changes occur or when payments are needed, but we will also prepare the necessary registrations for you at your request.  This is an optional area as an additional service which is done at no extra charge for FoodTRACE clients utilizing the traceability system.  This service is available to others as well, including those companies in meat, dairy and poultry for a small annual fee.
