Traceability on other food items is also lacking currently to adequate standards.  Variations in the processing and handling and movement of various groups varies.  The FoodTRACE system is designed to “link” steps together.  Regardless of the type of food, although internal processes and procedures, functions, types of reporting and data are quite different in the different groups, there is consistency.  Consistency in that each handling step of a product keeps information on where their product came from and where it went.  This is the underlying theme of FoodTRACE, to be able to take information from a company, IN their current format, and “link” it to the previous and subsequent step, creating the full supply chain visibility of the product from it’s source, throughout the various points of contact and distribution through it’s specific system.
