FoodTRACE
FoodTRACE is a 21st century solution to traceability of food. It exceeds current and expected government regulations while being flexible for future modifications. This system, originated in 2006, was designed with various aspects as a requirement to be effective….
- Industry – The industry needs better traceability to insure the maximum protection of individual companies in case of an event. This means better access to more information in order to exonerate or determine the level of implication of a company and their products. With the additional legislation and requirments of government, this area must be complied with, but it doesn’t have to be expensive. Our program doesn’t ask you to buy numbers, add additional carton markings, buy hardware or software or required additional personnel to be effective. The highest level of traceability available today is FoodTRACE, and it is done at the lowest cost of any system in place or in discussion today.
- Government – FDA, CDC, Homeland Security, HHS, USDA are the governmental agencies that can be involved in a foodborne illness event. Each year over 76 million people in the U.S. are affected with a foodborne illness, over 300,000 are hospitalized and approximately 5,000 people die annually. That’s about 14 people per day. That is unacceptable. Information is the key….when there is an event, the ability to trace fully forward and fully back from any point in the supply chain offers the highest potential to have a positive impact on an event. Shortening the time frame, minimizing the number of illnesses, protecting the food supply, maintaining consumer confidence….these are all government objectives.
- Consumer – The consumer continues to demand more and more, not only in the way of food safety, but in supply, availability and selection. Over 15% of the nations food supply is imported, from over 150 countries. The consumer demands safe food. There will always be issues. When they do happen, the reaction of industry and the government will determine the impact those issues have on both. Traceability is key to managing an event and FoodTRACE offers the highest technology, supply the most complete information, in a timely and effective manner and all at a very low cost.
